Thu, December 8, 2005 - 4:38 PMI think that's the same as EL panel material. I have used it, but only as a whole panel, I did not try to cut it. Actually, I did try at first but it's kind of tricky and fragile.
All Electronics has 1x5" strips and maybe larger. allcorp.com I think. You can get larger panels too, try Edmund Scientific.

Wed, April 9, 2008 - 3:50 PMI bought a panel from him for my car gauges.
It works great except that you need to laminate it once you've cut it to pieces otherwise it will oxydize and stop working. It makes life difficult for me since you need to leave a good 1-2mm of laminate around the edges, but I have no extra room in the instrument cluster.
I made the mistake of soldering my wires onto the connectors while attached to the panel, which has effectively disabled one of my parts since i haven't left any room for extra connectors to be put in :(
I guess they don't like heat too much :(
In any case, this is what they looked like while they still worked :
