Has anyone tried this stuff?
Any experience you can share?
I am interested in longevity-especially compared to el wire.

Something to research for next year! :)

Re: Flex Neon
Mon, August 20, 2007 - 11:50 PMIt seems to be quite large (20mm * 26mm) and somewhat directional. -

Re: Flex Neon
Tue, August 21, 2007 - 8:00 AMYes it is,but my application is to be embedded in an art car and covered with clear sealant.
That means that it really won't be serviceable-my concern vs El Wire is that el wire degradesd immediately, nowhere near a 100k hour life.
LEDs will decay too,but more slowly?
Whaddaya think?

Re: Flex Neon
Thu, September 6, 2007 - 7:02 PMFlex Neon is a piece of acrylic painted on one side and then lit from the end with an LED, it's not as flexible as EL Wire. -

Well.........
Sun, September 9, 2007 - 8:55 PMIt seems to have a row of LEDs under a fiber optic type light diffusing cable.I can see that being painted with an acylic-which makes me wonder how it will fade in the sun.
It is cuttable every X inches, and has that under section where all the power is run, lights are installed.
Expensive too, didja look at the neon rope,
precious little information on that.... -

Re: Well.........
Sun, September 9, 2007 - 9:02 PMIt is a string of LEDs inside milky silicon rubber. It is cuttable every X inches but still can't be cut anywhere u want, also there should be only a few standard length for u to choose.
Compare the size & price, EL wire a lot cheaper and thinner. But about the longevity, of coz, EL wire can't compare with LED at this moment.
But one thing to notice. One single LED down, the whole Flex neon down.
EL wire won't get down unless u input crazy high voltage to burn all the phosfor.
